Tony Nese is on his way to WrestleMania. The 205 Live Superstar won the Cruiserweight Championship Tournament on March 19 against Cedric Alexander. That victory gives Nese the Cruiserweight title shot at Buddy Murphy on The Grandest Stage of Them All on April 7.
Nese, a Long Island native, spoke to Newsday about his upcoming match at WrestleMania.
“This is the culmination of everything that I’ve done,” Nese said in an interview Tuesday. “It couldn’t have come at a better time. As soon as it was announced over a year ago that WrestleMania was going to be here at Met Life, I kept telling myself that I’ve got to do whatever I can to get there.”

Nese will basically be performing in front of his hometown crowd and while he has been a heel for most of his WWE run, he may hear some cheers that night. The Premiere Athlete has been a top star on 205 Live for much of the program’s run but this is the closest he’s been to championship glory on the brand.
But Buddy Murphy has been on top of his game from the moment he won the Cruiserweight Championship. He continues to have some of the best matches of anyone in WWE and that will surely be the case again on April 7.
Many fans feel that Murphy is a vastly underrated talent but the same could also be said of Tony Nese. Nese is a solid worker and can get the job done any time his number is called. Win or lose, WrestleMania 35 will certainly be the biggest night of Nese’s pro wrestling career thus far.
