Danny Rose has admitted he could be forced to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
The left-back, who was close to making a move last summer, has cited his age as a potential reason for the north Londoners sanctioning the move.
He remained coy when discussing the matter with Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett on Sunday, refusing to commit if he would or would not be leaving the club.
“If I am great. If not, great. It’s no secret I’ve been linked with a move in the media, and it’s the club’s policy to move players on when they reach a certain age.”
Rose admits he was left ’embarrassed’ and ‘angry’ after a unnamed club asked to know if he was ‘crazy’ following his admission about depression.
The Tottenham left-back opened up about his struggles with the illness in the build up to the 2018 World Cup, an illness which was triggered by a significant knee injury and the death of a close family member.
Speaking to talkSPORT’s Sam Matterface, Rose spoke of the moment he was told of the unflattering remark.
“That’s the message I was told by someone at my club, I was speaking to someone last summer and the [Spurs] were aware of it, they was helping me out massively in trying to maybe get a deal sorted,” Rose said.
The 28-year-old signed for Spurs in 2007 for around £1million from Leeds United.
Rose was one of the star’s of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad this season, making 37 appearances in all competitions and starting every game from the quarter-finals onwards in Spurs’ Champions League run.
