Eric Dier is to be sold by Tottenham Hotspur if he cannot agree terms on a new deal in north London.
According to reports, the England international is reluctant to commit to a new deal due to his playing time decreasing drastically under Jose Mourinho.
The manager tried to bring Dier to Old Trafford in the summer of 2017 when he was Manchester United boss, but their eventual partnership has not proved fruitful.
Dier’s current contract is up in the summer of 2021, but the Mail claim Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is keen to avoid another fiasco with a first-team player entering the final year of his deal.
Jan Vertonghen could well be joining Christian Eriksen in leaving the club, while Toby Alderweireld managed to agree to new terms before the January transfer window.
Dier has not managed to start a Premier League game since before Christmas, despite being a former favourite of Mourinho, and wants assurances over his future before signing on the dotted line.
The report claims the 26-year-old also wishes to play as a centre-half rather than in holding midfield, a position he has grown to play in after being nurtured by Sporting Lisbon as a defender.

Dier made his professional debut with the Portuguese club before Mauricio Pochettino parted with £4million to bring him to N17 in 2014, scoring on his debut against West Ham at Upton Park.
The versatile star has made more than 200 appearances for the Lilywhites since his move and amassed 40 England caps.
However, Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate is unlikely to select someone for Euro 2020 not playing regularly for their club.
