Perry Groves believes Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers would jump at the chance to succeed Unai Emery as Arsenal manager.
Emery was sacked as Gunners boss on Friday morning after his side lost 2-1 at home to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League.
It was their SEVENTH consecutive game without a win, Arsenal’s worst run of results since 1992 when George Graham was manager.
A number of top coaches have already been linked with the role, with Wolves head-coach Nuno Espirito Santo the current bookies’ favourite, while recently-sacked Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has also been linked with a stunning move to Spurs’ arch-rivals.
Furthermore, former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has been described as the ‘perfect’ man for the job.
Ex-Gunner Groves insists Arsenal must turn to a coach with proven experience in the Premier League to stop the rot at the Emirates.
And he wants to the club to poach Rodgers from Leicester ‘at whatever the cost’, despite the success he’s currently enjoying at the King Power Stadium with the Foxes flying high in second place.
“They need to go with experience,” two-time First Division champion Groves told talkSPORT host Jim White on Friday.
“They need someone with Premier League experience with a clear vision and a clear direction.
“There are three candidates, for me.
Ray Parlour gives his honest opinion about AFTV – 'It should be called Arsenal Fail TV'
“Brendan Rodgers – you would go all out to get him no matter how much he cost, if you could.
“Would he want to leave Leicester? We’re a bigger a club… of course he would want to leave Leicester!
“Leicester are a very well-run club, but they’re not one of the big six clubs, and I think Rodgers wants something to prove with one of the big clubs.
“And if he’d be backed by the board as Emery was in the summer… he’d he perfect, because we’re in disarray.
“The others are Nuno Espirito Santo or Mauricio Pochettino.
“The players had completely lost faith in Emery and his tactics, when you watch us defend it’s like trying to herd cats, and at least with Nuno Arsenal would have an identity, he has a philosophy of playing.
“And why wouldn’t you try to get Pochettino? Just to wind that lot up, that would be funny.”
