Earlier this year, Kurt Angle announced that he decided to retire from the ring. Angle has frequently been cited as one of the greatest athletes in WWE history, so his in-ring retirement marked the end of a historic legacy left by the Olympic gold medalist. Angle faced off against Baron Corbin at WrestleMania 35 last month in his farewell match, and as is tradition when one is leaving active competition, Angle lost the match. However, that does not mean that the WWE Hall of Famer is finished with WWE. Angle has said before on his Facebook page that he will continue working with the company in a backstage role, but few details were given back then. Some new information on Angle’s job in WWE now have been provided.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the plans for Kurt Angle were revealed. Angle signed a new 5-year deal with WWE earlier this year, and he is currently in training to become a producer for the company. Angle is said to be learning the ropes of the behind the scenes workings in WWE, and he will be working on either Raw or SmackDown permanently after his training is over. Angle has said before that he wants to keep working with WWE and help give back to the company by working with the younger stars in the company. He has also not ruled out the possibility of on-camera appearances every once in a while. Angle is indeed still with WWE, and he will not be going anywhere else any time soon.
Former SmackDown Tag Team Champion Rhyno admitted earlier in the week that he and WWE will be mutually parting ways in just a couple of weeks. Rhyno’s departure from WWE follows months of inactivity for the former ECW competitor and WWE keeping him away from his treasured role as a “player coach” on the road for the new stars in WWE. He won’t be finished with wrestling when his contract expires this summer though as PWInsider reports that he has been announced for a WrestlePro event in Rahway, New Jersey on September 14th. In addition to wrestling on the show, Rhyno will also be meeting fans and signing autographs. Rhyno has said that his contract with WWE will be coming to an end in July.
