London – The demand for items specifically designed to
cover a woman’s modesty whilst remaining stylish and on trend, continues to
grow. Over the past few years, several Western mass-marker retailers such
as
and have acknowledged the needs of their
Middle Eastern and muslim clientele and responded with targeted capsule
collections. However, the increasing demand for sportswear and created another gap in the
market for modest wear – one which Veil Garments aims to fill.
The startup, which previously launched the world’s first climate adapting
hijab, for women looking to wear something for all weather conditions, has
launched a new project on crowdfunding platform Kickstarter for modest
sportswear. The campaign, entitled The future of modest sportswear, seeks
to 26,000 US dollars by July 4, 2016 to begin manufacturing its Spark and
Halo sportswear tops. Created to keep women both comfortable and covered
during their workouts, Spark, the half zip sweater is said to offer front
and back coverage whilst still allowing easy and free leg movement. Halo,
the running hoodie, is said to “dynamically fuse comfort and performance”,
featuring a stay in place scuba hood which replaces the need to wear a
hijab or head scarf during a workout.
“We understand how difficult it is to find modest sportswear in today’s
market so we’re doing the best we can to create functional, quality apparel
for you,” said the company on their campaign. “At Veil, we promise to
continue to bring innovation to the table and revolutionize the way women
wear the hijab and modest clothing. Our vision not only encompasses the
need to make modest-wear more comfortable and functional, but to motivate
and inspire women around the globe to follow and accomplish whatever goals
they dream of.”
