Special In Studio Edition: The Real WrestleMania Rewind
Hosted By: Todd Grisham
This week’s edition of Heat goes one better than Raw last week and broadcasts highlights from past original WrestleMania matches. Beats the shoddy showcases we were given last Monday. The IC title change match being a major exception. Here’s quick highlights of what aired:
March 31, 1985-WrestleMania I: Nikolai Volkoff and The Iron Sheik w/Classy Freddie Blassie defeated the U.S Express w/Captain Lou Albano to win the Tag Team Titles after Sheik nailed Barry Windham with Blassie’s cain behind the referee’s back. Volkoff covered for the win.
March 28, 1999-WrestleMania XV: Kane defeated Triple H by DQ after Chyna turned on Kane with a chair shot. Triple H delivered more chair shots to Kane before pedigreeing him onto the chair post match.
April 2, 2006-WrestleMania XXII: The Undertaker defeated Mark Henry in a Casket match. Undertaker delivered a Tombstone piledriver before rolling Henry into the casket.
April 1, 2007-WrestleMania XXIII: Highlights from Money in the Bank aired. They shown Mr Kennedy giving Hornswoggle the steam roller off the top of a ladder. That was a much bigger bump than any that JBL gave him a few weeks back. What’s more is that Finlay didn’t care here as he continued to try and get the briefcase. Considering the current JBL/Finlay angle I’m surprised they showed this clip. Back to the match and as we all know, Mr Kennedy wins after he shoves CM Punk to the floor with a ladder shot.
April 1, 2007-WrestleMania XXIII: John Cena defeated Shawn Michaels via tapout. Cena turned an FU into an STFU (the second of the match) and Michaels tapped.
Grisham plugs this year’s WrestleMania then thanks us for watching to end the show. Heat returns to its normal format next week. Until then, please spare a thought for Jeff Hardy whose luck goes from bad to worse. Jeff, you are in my thoughts. Have a good week everyone. See you next week. Shaun.
