According to backstage sources, Shane McMahon is said to be back training for a potential in-ring return possibly at this year’s WWE SummerSlam. Shane McMahon is said to face Kevin Owens at the upcoming SummerSlam PPV. Idea for that match has changed after it was announced that Owens will face AJ Styles for a rematch for the United States Championship at SummerSlam with Shane McMahon as the Special Guest Referee.
Shane McMahon is still expected to face Kevin Owens in a match most likely on the next Smackdown Exclusive PPV. The United States Championship Match between AJ Styles and Kevin Owens with Shane McMahon as the Special Guest Referee could just setup the match between Shane and Owens. As seen on Smackdown Live, there was some sort of altercation between Owens and McMahon. That could also be the start of their match up down the road.
