The show begins with the intro video of SmackDown Live.
We are told that Tom Phillips will be on assignment for a few weeks. We have Michael Cole filling in for Tom Phillips on SmackDown Live.
We head in the arena where Daniel Bryan makes his way down to the ring. He soaks in the atmosphere for a minute before reminding the crowd that they’ve only got two hours to put on a show and to make tonight’s show as big as possible. He sets up a Six-Woman Tag-Team Match where Natalya, Tamina, and Lana will go up against Naomi, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair. He also announces that Jinder Mahal has a special announcement and reminds us that tonight there will be a Hell in a Cell rematch between Bobby Roode and Dolph Ziggler.
Bryan then says that there is something he has to address to a man whose actions at Hell in a Cell disappointed him. He says that he is talking about Sami Zayn, and when he first became GM, he said all the time that he wanted Sami right here.
Sami Zayn’s music hits and he makes his way down to the ring. Bryan tells him that after everything he did, he comes out here smiling and dancing. Is this really the Sami he has known for over thirteen years? Zayn asks what the difference is because he is still a great guy, nothing has changed and all he did was take ownership of his career back. Does that really make him a bad guy? Sami said that he thought Bryan of all people would understand.
Bryan says that he has been in his shoes but Sami cuts him off and says that they’re not the same. Yeah, there’s some similarities, they’re both gifted in the ring, well, not so much anymore for Bryan and management never believed in them, but the difference is, Bryan has the crowd. They made the Yes Movement what it was and put him in the main event of WrestleMania, but they didn’t uphold their part of the bargain with him.
Sami continues by saying that he came out and worked hard with a smile and did everything right and they were supposed to cheer so hard that he would be undeniable to the management, but they never did. But the amazing part is he doesn’t care anymore. And between the two of them, it feels amazing, and if Bryan felt as amazing as he does right now, he would be smiling the same way. Maybe if Bryan worked smarter instead of harder, he wouldn’t have had to retire in this very building.
Sami also says that it breaks his heart, and he considers Bryan a once in a lifetime performer, The performer of their generation, he really was. His whole career he spent trying to catch up to Bryan, but every time he reached his level he was two steps ahead, but now, he’s the last person he would ever want to be like. A man who broke his body for glory and adulation just to end up a housewife. Bryan’s facial expression changed as Owens’ music hits.
Kevin Owens makes his way down to the ring. He says that he is so happy for Sami, that he has seen the light and listened to what he has said all along, but he has to clear up a few things. Bryan is a pathetic martyr, a housewife, Mr. Bella, but now he has become something much worse. He has become what he fought against for so long, he’s a hypocrite. Bryan says that he knows Owens tries to infect everyone with this poison thinking, but he knows he doesn’t care about anybody except himself.
And maybe he resents Bryan because he cares about doing what’s best for the fans, and that’s not what’s best for him. Owens takes issue with this, saying that he cares about not what’s best for fans, but about what’s best for business. Daniel Bryan is now the Authority. Sami’s mind is blown by this revelation, but agrees, and says there is only one word for a person like Bryan, and that’s “sellout”.
Zayn thanks Owens for helping him open his eyes and not become like Bryan, and they hug. Bryan shakes his head and goes to leave, but Owens calls him back, saying he forgot that walking out of the arena’s the best thing he has these days. Bryan wonders aloud where he’s going, before saying he’s gonna go find a couple of dudes to punch them in the face.
Commentary hypes up Jinder Mahal’s announcement as well as the match between Roode and Ziggler and the women’s six-man tag-team match for tonight before recapping the women’s championship match from Hell in a Cell and the brawl that set up tonight’s match.
Charlotte Flair makes her way down to the ring and we go to a commercial break.
Back from the commercial break, we get the rest of our entrances and see that Carmella and James Ellsworth have joined the commentary booth.
Charlotte Flair, Naomi and Becky Lynch vs. Natalya, Lana and Tamina Snuka: The opening bell sounds and Natalya takes control of the match early on against Naomi. Naomi comes back with a kick and sends Natalya outside. Naomi hits a suicide dive to the outside, then back in the ring we see Naomi and Natalya brawl back and forth. Becky tags in and starts working over Natalya’s arm. Becky hits a kick and an arm drag, then a leg drop for a two count. Natalya rolls outside for another breather. Tamina tags in and hits a superkick on Naomi. Lana comes in next and continues to work over Naomi. Lana hits Becky and swings at Charlotte on the apron. Charlotte tries to run in but the referee stops her, allowing the heels to hit some cheap shots on Naomi in their corner. Lana gets distracted talking trash to Charlotte, and Naomi comes back with kicks. Charlotte gets the tag and cleans house. Charlotte lays into Lana with chops then hits some knee drops and a T-bone suplex. Lana starts to fight back, but Charlotte shuts her down with a big boot. Charlotte goes for the Figure Four but Natalya breaks it up and throws Charlotte into the corner. Becky runs in and suplexes Natalya, then Tamina superkicks Becky. Naomi hits a cross body on Tamina an they both fall out to ringside. It’s down to Charlotte and Lana in the ring, and Charlotte locks in the Figure Eight Leg Lock on Lana for the win via submission. Winners: Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and Naomi
After the match, Natalya beats down Charlotte around ringside and throws her into the announce table. Natalya grabs a steel chair but misses and Charlotte chases off the Champion. Natalya retreats through the crowd as Becky stands beside Charlotte.
We head backstage where Daniel Bryan is walking and he suddenly runs into Zayn and Owens and greets them. Owens asks him if he can find anybody with the guts to face them, and Bryan says not one person, but literally every person in the locker room has said they want to punch them in the face. But he is going to give them an opportunity against the thirteen time WWE Champion Randy Orton and his partner, Shinsuke Nakamura. Bryan tries to do his trademark handshake gimmick and Owens and Zayn walks off telling him that he is not funny.
Commentary promises us that Pulp Fashion will begin right after the commercial break.
Back from the commercial break, we begin the opening credits of Pulp Fashion right away.
The Ascension are in an interrogation room and Fandango comes in. They complain about being left waiting and he tells them to be cool, like the Fonz, so they make a jump the shark joke. Fandango says that he means like his partner, and Tyler Breeze is dressed up again. They riff on the dance scene, the cheeseburger scene, and the “English, do you speak it” scenes from Pulp Fiction and Tyler takes note of their cheeseburger and takes a bite, but it turns out that he is allergic to pickles, so now we are riffing on the overdose scene.
Breeze wakes up before Fandango can jam a giant needle between his ample tracts of land, and he says that he is not actually allergic, just the bun was disgusting. They bicker until Tyler realizes somebody took the briefcase, and the Ascension try to do a big huddle gimmick but Breezango walks off rather than play along.
Baron Corbin makes his way down to the ring and he will be in action right after the commercial break.
Back from the commercial break, we are just in time for the opening bell of the next match, but Corbin gets on the mic.
He polls the crowd if they would like to see Sin Cara get a title shot, before saying that it’s too bad, and the only opportunities he cares about are his own. The United States Open Challenge is closed for good.
Baron Corbin vs. Sin Cara: This one is a non-title match. The bell rings and Corbin takes Sin Cara to the corner for strikes. Sin Cara fights back and hits a dropkick that sends Corbin rolling outside. Corbin gets on the apron but Sin Cara kicks him right back outside, then hits a suicide dive on Corbin on the floor. Sin Cara keeps Corbin at ringside then goes up top, and Sin Cara hits a big splash on Corbin on the floor. Sin Cara rolls back in the ring, and Corbin gets counted out by the referee. Winner via Count Out: Sin Cara
After the match, Sin Cara celebrates on the ramp as Corbin looks disgruntled at ringside.
We head Backstage where The Usos are being interviewed. Jimmy says that they walked in Hell in a Cell and walked out as champions, and they are the hottest thing on SmackDown, and Jey says that he feels like a little kid on Christmas morning, like it’s his birthday, like they’ve got the tag division on lock, like it’s the Uso Penitentiary.
Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin interrupts and asks them if this is when they do the rap stuff. They say that they feel like they are going to rap them up, tap them up, and become The WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions real, real soon. But until then, respect, and they offer handshakes. The Usos are all smiles but their challengers yank their hands away.
Commentary hypes up the tag match between Zayn and Owens vs. Orton and Nakamura and we see Jinder Mahal and The Singh Brothers walking backstage to send us to a commercial break.
Back from the commercial break, we get another Bludgeon Brothers video vignette and this time they are camouflaged in a forest with Erick Rowan’s respirator reverberating. He pulls the mask off and they begin, talking about how destruction prevails over the light and annihilation follows them. They then hammer the camera.
Commentary shows us a video package highlighting Jinder Mahal’s recent press tour of India, and then The Singh Brothers give The Modern-Day Maharaja his usual big introduction. Jinder gets in the ring and says that there are some things you only experience when you’re the first ever Indian WWE Champion, and this past week he took the title to his homeland and was given a true hero’s welcome.
Five-star hotels, the finest restaurants, and on his last day there a young boy who came up to him to asked him what is next for him. He asked the boy what he meant, and he said that he has beaten Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura and anybody worth beating on SmackDown, yet in America he doesn’t get the same level of respect as he does in India. He says that the boy was wise beyond his years and counters a “You can’t wrestle!” chant by pointing out that he is, in fact, the champion.
Anyway, Jinder says that he has to beat a man that we think is unbeatable, the most dominant force in WWE, and so at Survivor Series, he’s challenging the Beast, Brock Lesnar. And when he beats Brock, we will recognize his greatness.
AJ Styles’ music hits and he gets on the mic. Styles says that he doesn’t know if it’s the acoustics, did he hear right? Jinder says he did, and the crowd gets behind AJ in a big way. Styles says that he doesn’t mean the Lesnar challenge, he doesn’t care about that, it’s the idea that he’s beaten every worthy contender on SmackDown live, because he hasn’t beaten AJ Styles. Mahal tells him that if you were paying attention, he was quoting the boy, but he’s right, he meant there was no worthy competition on SmackDown.
He calls Styles a loser and claims that he’s a winner, because he’s WWE Champion. AJ says if he’s a loser, he shouldn’t have a problem putting The WWE Championship on the line against him, to which Jinder says in his country they don’t think Styles is worthy of standing in the same ring with him. AJ says we’re not in his country, and Mahal tries to put him to the back of the line, which gets “USA!” chants out of the crowd.
Jinder calls AJ delusional and says that the fact that he is even challenging is an absolute joke. Doesn’t he know who he is? AJ heads towards the ring and The Singh Brothers tries to beat-down AJ but AJ runs them off and hits the Pele kick on Jinder. Mahal and The Singh Brothers are in full retreat.
Commentary informs us that the match between Ziggler and Roode will happen after the commercial break.
Back from the commercial break, we see Daniel Bryan on the phone when Jinder Mahal enters and demands that action should be taken against AJ Styles. Bryan turns the question on him and asks what he is going to do about it, and Mahal says that he will make him pay, by putting Sunil Singh against AJ next week. Bryan calls that a phenomenal idea and books it.
Bobby Roode vs. Dolph Ziggler: Ziggler makes his way down to the ring with no music or entrance video as he has been doing lately. The opening bell sounds and Ziggler starts off on the offensive. Ziggler beats down Roode until Roode fires back with a big lariat, and Ziggler rolls outside for a breather. Roode rolls outside too, but Ziggler rams him into the apron then dropkicks him. Back in the ring, Ziggler continues to wear down Roode. Roode fights out of a sleeper and throws Ziggler into the corner. Roode hits a spine-buster for a two count. Roode misses a shot off the middle rope, and Ziggler rolls up Roode with the tights for a two count. A series of counters leads to Roode rolling up Ziggler for a two count of his own. Ziggler comes back with a roll up out of the corner with a handful of tights for the three count. Winner: Dolph Ziggler
After the match, Ziggler leaves as he tells Roode “I told you so” and Roode looks upset in the ring.
Commentary promotes The WWE Network and hypes up our main event once again to send us to a commercial break.

Commentary informs us that Brock Lesnar will respond to Jinder Mahal’s challenge next week on Raw.
We head backstage where we see Aiden English walking and singing about being Johnny Appleseed, only to be totally ignored by some staff members. He asks if they would be on their phone during the opening night at Don Giovanni and wonders if he is not up to their musical standards, who is?
The New Day enters and they start throwing cereal around and enjoying their trombone time, getting the staffers dancing. They give English some nicknames and Rusev shows up, saying no more New Day, the only thing that matters now is Rusev Day. Kofi Kingston says if it’s Rusev Day again, that means it’s time to celebrate, and Xavier Woods plays Rusev’s theme as they dance away. Rusev insists that Rusev Day isn’t a joke, and Aiden starts singing, but the Bulgarian Brute tells him now is not the time.
We get entrances for the main event, but the match will begin right after the commercial break.
Shinsuke Nakamura and Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn: Zayn and Nakamura start off in the main event as the opening bell sounds. Zayn takes Nakamura down with an arm drag, but Nakamura pops right back up and tells Zayn to bring it. Nakamura fires back with a knee strike and then drops Zayn with a kick to the face. Nakamura stomps on Zayn in the corner, then Orton tags in. Zayn backs up and tags in Owens. Orton backs Owens into the corner then charges at him, but Owens stops him with a boot to the face. Owens misses a lariat, but then blocks an RKO and rolls outside for a breather. Orton rolls outside but Zayn distracts him and Owens takes control with a cheap shot. Owens whips Orton into the ring post, then sends him flying into the fan barrier with a fall-away slam. Back in the ring, Nakamura tags in and goes at it with Owens. Nakamura starts getting the upper hand until Zayn runs in and makes the save.
The referee sends Zayn back to his corner as Owens stomps away on Nakamura. Owens starts targeting Nakamura’s leg, then Zayn tags in and continues to apply the pressure on the leg. Owens quickly tags back in and hits a running senton on Nakamura for a two count. Owens works on keeping Nakamura grounded, and continues to try to damage Nakamura’s knee. Nakamura dodges a splash in the corner and fires back with kicks and knees. Orton and Sami both tag in and Orton unloads with offense. Zayn finally catches Orton with a suplex and both men are down. The fight spills outside where Orton gets distracted by Owens. Orton slams Owens into the fan barricade, then Zayn goes for a suicide dive on Orton but Orton punches him from the apron. Orton goes for a draping DDT on the floor, but Zayn escapes and shoves Orton into the announce table. They brawl around the table until Orton gets the upper hand and slams Zayn through the announce table to a big pop from the crowd. Orton brings Zayn back in the ring for a pin, but Owens breaks it up. Owens superkicks Orton, then Nakamura throws Owens outside. Sami goes for the big boot on Orton, but Orton dodges and hits a powerslam for a two count. Meanwhile at ringside, Owens slams Nakamura into the steel steps. Owens distracts the referee and Zayn low-blows Orton from behind. Sami follows up with the Helluva Kick on Orton for the three count. Winners: Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens
After the match, Zayn and Owens hug their way up the ramp while Nakamura and Orton recoup their losses.
We head Backstage where Owens and Zayn run into Daniel Bryan. Owens asks Bryan how that worked out for him. Zayn says that they beat the top two guys on SmackDown, so what’s next for them, a Daniel Bryan on a Pole Match? Bryan says that next week isn’t up to him, it’s up to Shane McMahon. Zayn and Owens are speechless.
We head back to ringside with Nakamura and Orton. Owens and Zayn comes back out and Owens celebrates and talks about how they are the best and they just beat Nakamura and Orton. He says that they are SmackDown, and there’s nothing anybody can do about it. He says Sami is his best friend and asks him to hug him tight. Sami Zayn obliges and SmackDown goes off the air.
