Ring of Honor issued the following press release announcing that the Octopus Jonathan Gresham will go one-on-one with wrestling legend Alex Shelley at the December 15th Final Battle Fallout event from Philadelphia. Details, including an updated match card, can be found below.
Alex Shelley returned to ROH in Dearborn during Global Wars Espetacular and was immediately challenged by a man who trained under his learning tree in Search and Destroy, Jonathan Gresham. Gresham has shown a more deliberately devious side as of late but no move, trick, counter, or pinning combination could put away Shelley in their bout in New Orleans.

In the instant classic, the teacher beat the student. But Gresham, who challenges for the ROH World Tag Team Championships just two days before at Final Battle, gets a second opportunity to go one-on-one with a living ROH legend in Philadelphia at Final Battle Fallout!
Shelley championed the initial arrival of Gresham into Ring of Honor and has long since been a supporter. Gresham has credited Shelley for inspiring him to wrestle in the locations he has and adapt the styles he has following seeing Shelley compete in Japan. Gresham, who has numerous huge Pay Per View wins in 2019 including those against now-tag team partner Jay Lethal and Silas Young, looks to avenge his loss against a mentor who he traveled with and learned under. Will Gresham pick up yet another signature win en route to a singles’ Championship shot or Shelley pick up momentum toward a potential ROH World Title shot?
