CONCORD, NH — During the past 24 hours, Concord police have twice visited a home on Airport Road at the street’s intersection with Russell Street.
Around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, police dispatch received a report about a possible burglary at 58 Airport Road. The caller reported a broken windowpane and possibly someone inside the home. The dispatcher said the property manager was not at the location, but someone was watching the house for them.
When police arrived at the home, they confirmed the broken windowpane as well as people sleeping in a camper at the property. More officers and deputies from the Merrimack County Sheriff’s Department were requested. A perimeter was set up and the people in the camper were asked to vacate the scene, according to scanner chatter.
An officer learned a woman with bright red hair had fled the scene on a black scooter. Officers searched the area around Airport Road, Regional Drive, and streets on the Concord Heights, in the business district, but could not find the woman. One officer who contacted the property manager said they were OK with the people in the camper being on the property since they were gathering items to leave, but no one should be in the house.
Officers spent 10 minutes searching the home, but no one was inside.
On Wednesday, detectives and police, including a K-9 unit, were back at the home to implement a search warrant around 9:15 a.m.
One of the officers noted the woman’s scooter from the search on Tuesday was at the home. A man and a woman were later arrested on criminal trespass charges.
Around 11:30 a.m., officers were seen at the home, collecting evidence and taking samples from a door. A K-9 unit was also seen searching the lot.
The home has been a magnet of issues for several years. It was previously owned by Todd Spataro, 57, a felon and resident who has been arrested more than a dozen times during the past two decades on various charges, including robbery, forgery, theft, felon in possession of a dangerous weapon, reckless conduct, criminal mischief, disobeying an officer, violation of probation, and several acts prohibited counts.
Spataro has active cases in both Merrimack County Superior Court and Concord District Court, including acts prohibited-fentanyl and falsifying physical evidence out of Hooksett from May 2022 and common nuisances, deal-possess prescription drugs, possession of a controlled drug-sale, and possession of a controlled drug charges, after an incident or investigation on Airport Road.
It is unknown if Spataro is connected to any current activity at the home.
The home was foreclosed upon and put up for auction in September 2023, according to a newspaper legal notice from July 2023. The city’s online assessing listing had the Federal National Mortgage Association owning the property in November 2023 and then selling it a day later to MDR Rehab and Development LLC in November 2023 for $180,000. MDR is a house flopper out of Goffstown, according to the Better Business Bureau.
Concord police offered no comment at post time.
