“I’m crying in a McDonald’s Parking lot seein this,” wrote another.
Many thanked their creators, one asked for more specific timing, since “some of us have to book flights.”
Cottage fries — a thick-cut round fry considered by many as a superb fried potato product and a throwback to a simpler time — have long been a beloved staple of J.G. Mellon.
The top burger spot first opened in the Upper East Side in 1972 and has since been long regarded by many to be the best burger in the city.
But since December 2021, J.G. Mellon, on East 74th and Third Avenue, cottage fries have been off the menu.
Supplier Lamb Weston, who also was the source of cottage fries for Sheepshead Bay icon Roll ‘n Roaster, had faced supply chain disruptions.
A representative from J.G. Mellon told Patch that the cottage fries are still supplied from Lamb Weston.
