LONG ISLAND, NY — As Long Islanders try to hold on to as much of their hard-earned money, one supermarket chain is making sure shoppers aren’t hit too hard in the wallet.
Lidl, which has two dozen stores across the island, has started a summer cost-cutting drive with savings on dozens of items.
“There’s definitely feedback from residents on Long Island that they’re concerned about grocery prices,” Chandler Spivey, senior communications and public relations manager at Lidl, told Patch. “This is kind of our response.”
While the stores, typically have lower prices, especially for their own brands, through Labor Day shoppers can save more than 50% on groceries, “so they can worry about other things for their summer,” she said. “We’re always committed to getting the lowest prices for our customers.”
Spivey said the reduced prices are special to Nassau and Suffolk customers as each week’s discounted items will be shown on the Lidl app and on the shelves.
“It’s over 150 products, and there are some national branded products,” Spivey said.
Lidl Nassau locations include East Meadow, Garden City Park, Massapequa, Merrick, Plainview and Syosset.
Among the Lidl locations in Suffolk are: Babylon, Babylon Village, Bay Shore, Huntington and West Hampton.
