WALLINGFORD, CT — A new horror-comedy film is making its Connecticut premiere with a special screening in Wallingford next week.
“Crust” will be shown at 6:50 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19 at Holiday Cinemas at 14970 North Colony Rd. in Wallingford.
Wallingford resident Daniel Kearney, an actor and producer of “Crust,” will co-host the premiere event with executive producer Chris Bevins. A Q&A session will follow the screening.
“Nearly 30 years ago, Chris and I were making horror films as kids together, he is a brother to me,” Kearney said. “Now all this time later, to be a part of the producing team together on this huge project … and now it’s on the big screen in our hometown… I just can’t wrap my head around it.”
“Crust” was co-written and directed by Sean Whalen, who also stars alongside a cast that features Alan Ruck, perhaps best known as Cameron Frye in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” who also starred in ABC’s “Spin City” and HBO’s “Succession,” and Daniel Roebuck.
The synopsis for “Crust,” reads “A depressed has-been child actor and owner of a dingy laundromat, becomes powerfully vengeful when his collection of lone socks transforms into a protective, cute, murderous monster named Crust.”
“This film is filled with massive talent, legends,” Kearney said. “It’s a love letter to creature features but filled with deep emotion, comedy, and of course horror… fans will love this monster.”
“Crust” was filmed in April 2023 in Los Angeles. It will be available for VOD purchase in November domestically, according to Kearney.

“It means so much to us to have a premiere in Wallingford – our hometown,” Kearney said. “I love our community, it’s why I’ve never left, and the reaction to our films has meant the world to me. I hope everyone will love the film and have the best time.
“Making Crust was one of those surreal life events from start to finish for us. All of a sudden I was amongst people I’ve watched my entire life on film and you pause and go… yes, this is going to be very special.”
