— WWE was unable to secure a TV deal for their NXT UK television show and so they went ahead and announced that it would be airing on the WWE Network during prime time for the UK audience. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the original plan was that WWE was taping the UK shows to air on Sky, but due to multiple issues – including significantly declining viewership numbers for Raw and Smackdown – Sky wasn’t interested.
— Another reason the Sky/WWE relationship is strained is because when the two sides originally signed their agreement, one of the key components was that Sky was going to get a certain share of WWE’s PPV revenues. However, after the deal was signed, WWE went ahead and launched their network without informing Sky. Despite this, nobody expects the two sides to stop working together when the existing contract expires at the end of 2019.
