SPRING GROVE, IL — A 41-year-old man was arrested for allegations he assaulted a woman he was in a dating relationship with after a police dog helped track him down over the weekend, police said.
Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputy chief Christopher Covelli says Kevin Strauss, 41, now faces a domestic battery charge in connection with the Sunday morning incident its the 37700 block of North Watts Avenue in unincorporated Spring Grove.
Strauss is accused of assaulting the among in front of her children before fleeing on foot. K9 Odin followed his scent through several yards and onto the railroad tracks, where he found the man hiding, according to a Facebook post by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
“Thanks to K9 Odin’s quick work, deputies made the arrest without further incident,” according to the Facebook post.
