WWE Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett reportedly suffered what is believed at this point to be a potentially serious injury during the WWE SmackDown television taping on Tuesday night in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
During Barrett’s match on the show with Dean Ambrose, the I-C champ suffered a shoulder injury after being thrown into the ringside barricade with force by Jack Swagger.
According to live fan reports, Barrett immediately started clutching his shoulder and cussing very loud, which is similar to how he reacted when he suffered a serious injury that ended up requiring surgery a few years ago.
After suffering the potential injury, the referee threw up the infamous “X” symbol, which led to medics rushing to the ring to help Barrett to the back.
As of right now, the severity of Barrett’s injury, as well as his status for this Sunday’s Money In The Bank pay-per-view, where he is scheduled to compete in the Money In The Bank ladder match, is unclear. When additional information becomes available, we will have an update here on the website.
