Following a meeting between the two in Trump Tower, Fiorina, who is reportedly under consideration to be Trump’s director of national intelligence, said she and Trump discussed “China as probably our most important adversary.”
“We talked about hacking, whether it’s Chinese hacking or purported Russian hacking,” Fiorina said, according to the president-elect’s pool report.
Trump has rejected intelligence reports that suggest Russian actors hacked U.S. institutions as part of an effort to help him win the presidency.
“We talked about the opportunity that the president elect has to literally reset things, to reset the trajectory of this economy, to reset the role of government, to reset America’s role in the world and how we’re perceived in the world,” Fiorina continued.
“The high quality of people that he’s named already says so much about his executive abilities. But it also says that people recognize the opportunity that our new president elect has to really make a huge impact on people’s lives in this country and on events around the world. So it was an honor for me to be there.”
Fiorina, a former rival of Trump during the Republican primary last year, also noted the “incredible memorabilia” in Trump’s office, specifically a shoe belonging to former NBA player Shaquille O’Neal.
During her bid for the Republican nomination, Fiorina touted her experience serving on the Central Intelligence Agency’s External Advisory Board from 2007-2009. The director of national intelligence oversees the country’s various intelligence agencies.
The meeting comes after a shaky relationship between the president-elect and Fiorina during the campaign.
